My last Cookie Monster-related post sparked controversy here at Giorgio stewmari as to what constitutes a worthwhile post and what our blog is all about. Not sure if we answered either question. But this gif is good enough for me.
I’ve been baking up a storm, in Maine and at the parents’ in Boston, nine loaves of bread, five bread puddings, a pie, three batches of cookies on Sunday and a fourth Monday night. Time-honored recipes, vegan chocolate banana, mint chocolate, and a rare chocolate-free coconut cranberry pecan batch for variety. The last batch were ginger cookies, my current project, trying to recreate Trader Joe’s Triple Ginger Snaps — with fresh, ground and candied ginger. I’ve worked out some nice ginger chews but I’m nervous to add the serious amounts of sugar necessary to make them snap. And they are gingery but never gingery enough, baking takes some of the kick out of the downright nasal-clearing component parts. Not quite right but gobbled up each time.
